Laptops that don't have full keyboards generally have TWO "function" keys: One to activate laptop-specific functions - often labeled "Fn" - and one to activate the "F-keys", which are F1-F12 they're not the same thing. with the standard F1-F12 function keys, which DO NOT have any specific functions defined for them by default in Windows that would completely defeat their purpose, in fact. You are confusing your PC's "special" function keys, which can do all sorts of specific tasks - such as change volume and other media settings, turn wifi off and on, en/disengage Num Lock, and etc.
